Report on Veterans obtaining CDLs

Recognizing the challenges faced by returning military, Congress commissioned a report on veterans obtaining their CDLs to fully understand the path to obtaining a CDL by an experienced service man or woman. Since many military service men and women drive heavy vehicles during their time in the service, and are not required to have CDLs during their service, they have experience for the trucking industry, but this does not translate back to civilian life. Commercial trucking companies require civilian driving experience and CDLs. This report looks at the potential advantages of streamlining the CDL process for returning veterans.
