Trooper injured by hit and run semi-truck driver driving under the influence

A Tennessee State Highway Patrol Trooper was injured early Sunday morning after a tractor trailer hit his patrol car that was legally stopped on I-75 in Campbell County.

Trooper Joe Lindsay suffered a fractured vertebrae in his neck, a fractured rib, and injuries to his arm. THP confirmed Lindsay was treated and released from UT Medical Center.

Lindsay was working the scene of an earlier semi-truck fire on I-75 near the 152 mile marker. He was on the shoulder with a tow truck and wrecker crew when a tractor trailer hit the patrol car and tow truck.

THP said the driver of the tractor trailer, Stewart Snedeker, left the scene but was later detained by the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department at a Pilot service station.
