The Federal Motor Carrier SafetyAdministration has released a new strategic plan for 2012 through 2016.
“The 2012-2016 Strategic Plan presents a new comprehensive direction to focus its efforts on outreach, oversight, and enforcement resources directed at the entire CMV transportation life-cycle,” the FMCSA website states. The plan focuses on three main principles: raising the bar to entry, requiring to maintain high safety standards, and removing high risk carriers and drivers.
The FMCSA website states that the new plan presents a holistic approach to its “saving lives” mission and places safety as the association’s top priority. The trucking industry is a vital part of our nation’s economy.
The goal of the FMCSA, and the new strategic plan, is to improve the safety of America’s highways for the motoring public as well as those in the industry.
